Regarding Recent Changes in U.S. Immigration Policy
As you may be aware, the US government has very recently issued an order which has a profound effect on certain travelers’ ability to enter the United States. While this recent decision is somewhat lacking in clarity, we believe that as of Sunday, January 29, 2017, the following persons will be denied entry to the US when traveling here for Interaction 2017:
- Any traveler with refugee status or who has filed for refugee status with the US government
- Any traveler who is a citizen of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen EXCEPT FOR citizens of those countries who currently hold a US green card
With regards to travelers with dual citizenship, we understand that travelers who hold US citizenship will be admitted to the US. Travelers who are citizens of two countries, neither of which is the US, will be denied entry if they are a citizen is of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen, regardless of the other countries of which they are a citizen.
Due to the great uncertainty surrounding this recent government order, we urge you to contact your local US consular office if your citizenship status is at all unusual or indeterminate, or if you have any reason to believe that you might be denied entry to the US.
Should you hold a ticket to Interaction 17 and are not able to travel, we are here to help. We will be happy to offer you a full refund or arrange to transfer your ticket to another person who is interested in attending.
